Another iconic part of Collezione Suprema, the 009 is famous for the total protection given by its four crystal lenses. Made from a single hand curved piece of acetate, the front is larger than normal to accommodate the four glass lenses. With care and precision the small side lenses are inserted first, followed by the larger front lenses. Highly trained craftsmen tailor the frame and gradually adjust it to obtain the perfect finish; only after fifteen years are Persol craftsmen qualified enough to work on the 009. The making of the 009 involves fifty percent more handcrafted steps than other Persol models.
